There is a hero within you ready to do good, ready to be great, to do what is good and what is right.

Professor Stanley Milgram’s famous experiment started with the question of whether the holocaust could occur in America.

While many know that his results indicated that as many as 90% of ordinary people would electrocute another person simply because they were told to, there is a lesser know side to the results. [For the experiment, people were put in a room, told to press a button shocking another person, while someone in another room screamed when they pressed the button].

However the study ALSO showed that the peak number of people who complied would drop by 85% if JUST ONE person was seen to stand up, question and refuse the order.

The study therefor scientifically proved that one person doing what they know they should can affect a large majority who would have done wrong. Many times in history it has been one lowly person who has become a hero. Many times evil is done and good people stand by, wishing for a lifetime they would have said or done something.

If people train their mind to be prepared, decide on a strict set of moral guidelines about helping others, preventing harm and doing good – they are more ready when and if that time comes. It might be once in a lifetime, the hero within you is waiting.
