You know, freedom is so powerful – we could turn New Orleans or Detroit into one of the greatest cities the earth has ever seen very simply and practically overnight.

All we’d need to do is declare the city an economic free zone. Many countries in the world have had successful economic free-zones. Open visas, open immigration, allow foreign investment in businesses, and make it easier than Singapore or Dubai to start and run businesses. We’d have tens if not hundreds of billions in investment immediately — China, the Mid East and Europe would clamor for an opportunity to expand in an oasis in this great market with more freedom — taxpayers would not even have to pay for logistics — we could have simple visa and setup fees go to cover the immigration / customs/ border protection needed.

Locals would not be harmed by the influx in foreign labor and investment but would be some of the biggest beneficiaries. Property values would skyrocket and the skyline would soon resemble Shenzhen or Shanghai with ultra modern skyscrapers and luxury hotels. Old buildings, now abandoned would be renovated like those in Istanbul and Ankara. Surrounding areas outside the economic free-zones would thrive and all Americans would benefit from our ability to easily travel to the cities. The world would be better off, our poorest cities would become our richest, more people would see and interject with America first hand.

So simple. That’s the power of freedom.
