Prior to Hurricane Sandy hitting, Wal Mart changed its shipping schedules to bring 7000 generators to areas where they were needed.

Wal Mart, Lowes and Home Depot also stocked the items they knew would be most often sold pre and post-hurricane.

After the hurricane, New Yorkers shared power, set up generators, organized neighborhood watch groups and opened stores by candlelight.

Some of the most amazing acts of kindness have been not by government but by people helping people. Some of the most efficient logistics have been undertaken by private industry.

Belief in freedom requires a belief in humanity and belief that people will do the right thing. Hurricane Sandy is a great example of how people tend to do the right thing.
