Fireworks: Fourth of July, $90 million Up in Smoke – Millions Homeless

by Osden Coolidge

Okay, I have no idea how much all the fireworks cost this weekend, but bet its a heck of a lot more than $90 million.  Millions homeless we do know.

What kind of culture spends tens of millions of dollars on smoke and fire when people are starving and losing thier homes and jobs?

“But people need to feel good and celebrate.”  yeah right, thats what the Romans said to the idiots who went to the gladiator games while thier Empire crumbled.

People don’t need millions of dollars worth of fireworks this year, they need jobs and a real economy based on more than just smoke and mirrors voodoo from Geitner and Bernake.

“But what about all the firefighters and police who got overtime pay, doesnt that help the economy?”

No!  thats the same crazy talk that the people who want you to believe that the census will help the economy will have you beleive

FAKE jobs created by the government and ARTIFICIAL spending DO NOT, Can not and will not help the economy.

The 30%+ rise in the markets in recent months on the backs of more crazy announcements for more phoney money is NOT real or fundamental.

Companies go up in value because they SELL STUFF,  not because Geitner and his pals play with fake numbers, not because of printing new money, bailing out failed idiots or fireworks.

Dont get me wrong, Independence Day is my favorite holiday –  but while we all watched the sparkly sparkly in the air, people were being evicted from thier homes and even government buerocrats are now bneing asked to take IOUs in leiu of paychecks.

We are in a crisis and ignoring it, telling people to spend more or throwing a silly fireworks show is’nt gonna end it any sooner.

How bizarre that even as police officers are being cut back, we think we can afford to hire them for a pyrotechnics show.

To the Federal and to all the municipal governments who wasted tens of millions in taxpayer money this weekend:  you want to help?  Hold the shows and get off our back with the regulations and let us get this mess fixed.
