We pay taxes not by choice, but under threat to life, liberty and property. Those choosing not to pay may lose belongings and freedom at the hand of armed federal agents. Threat is violence. No matter how well-meaning a government program, it’s funding is born in violence, taken from the unwilling. Once executed, efficient success is rare, corrupt bureaucracy common, intended beneficiaries rarely helped, often harmed. Violence with no positive outcome has a name: evil.
