State Guaranteed Occupancy

Do you think it’s a good use of your tax dollars to have government guarantee hotel industry executives at very profitable private hotel corporations certain occupancy levels for private hotel rooms to be filled by the State?

For example, the State would guarantee to fill 80%, 90% or even 100% occupancy at certain for profit hotels with the bill paid for by the taxpayer regardless of whether the occupancy rate is met or not?

Good idea?

Probably not.

If you think that’s bad, change the word “hotel” to “prison” above and we have exactly the situation which is reality today: prison population in for-profit prisons guaranteed by the State.

Humans making tons of money from caging other humans.

By the way, most people in prison are there for non-violent offenses which harmed no other person.

Trivia bonus fun fact: prison labor is used to create canteens and other US military supplies for highly profitable government contractors who benefit from the slave-like labor at as low as 2 cents per hour….all while strengthening the military industrial complex.

Additional bonus fun fact: those who find this most reprehensible are very often those who support large government.
