GOP: The Party of Peace?

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. When some democrats unfortunately became hawk neo-cons, including, in many ways, the President, it was inevitable that the anti-war, pro-freedom movement would rise somewhere else. That place is now the Republican Party in the form of Rand Paul and the liberty movement which is completely different than Pres. GW Bush and the old guard.
There are over 100 articles about how libertarians stole the show at CPAC and are the leaders and new drivers of the Republican Party.
At 2am when the election results showed Mitt Romney’s defeat I said that, just like that, Rand Paul will become the new leader and face of the party.
This is the new paradigm. Given that no democrat can push a pro-peace, anti-war, anti-Patriot Act platform without contradicting the President, it will be likely five years before the democrats catch up in this space. Hopefully the actions of Rand Paul and the – finally – modern mainstream acceptance of these ideals – will push both parties toward a more sensible and peaceful foreign and domestic policy.
