KKK…. Just as crazy as you thought they were

I always give everyone the benefit of the doubt. So, with the passing of Sen Robert Byrd, a former KKK member I figured I’d give the official KKK website a view to hear their side. The first page says “spreading a message of love not hate”, hmmm….could be on to something here.
Has the KKK just been simply misunderstood all these years and I relied on third hand accounts which never represented the organization? Could these people be simply misguided radicals and not ignorant racists?….. Naaaaaahhhh.
After about 5 more seconds it turns out the KKK website is as ridiculous and idiotic as anyone might expect. Apparently the “Knights party platform” calls for recognition that America was founded as a “White” nation (apparently the word “white” is always capitalized). I wonder – do they know that “whites” were not the first ones here?
The rest of the site goes on to detail many other ridiculous and disjointed blabber nonsense rules, beliefs and lists as you might expect.
What is utterly bewildering is that anyone would be ignorant enough to join such an organization.
Also astounding is that a member made it to the US Senate. Sure Byrd apologized, so what – move on to the next guy.
I really couldn’t spend much time on the site reading their filth but I’m glad I did. In today’s world of sound-bite news, reporting as entertainment and outright propaganda and lies and cant hurt to check with the root source of news every now and then. I didn’t exactly expect to find a “new, kinder, more gentle” KKK who recognized the error of their ways but some glimmer of hope that they had a clue and had joined the 20th century would have been nice. Alas, it was severely lacking.
So I guess, at least in the case of the KKK, you CAN judge a book by its cover.
