MCLEAN, Va., June 17 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The following advisory was issued today by The American Cause:
Who: The American Cause
When: June 20. 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Where: The Ritz Carlton – 1700 Tysons Blvd. McLean, Virginia
Full Agenda and Details at: http://www.theamericancause.org/index.php?page=events
The American Cause, an educational foundation chaired by Pat Buchanan, will hold a national conference on the topic “Building The New Majority.” The conference features top conservative activists, intellectuals, and politicians, who will argue that principled conservative opposition to Barack Obama is key if the Republican Party is to become a majority party once again.
According to Pat Buchanan,
“A party defines itself by what it stands for, and what it stands against. After the Bush era, the Republican Party has been given the opportunity to redeem and redefine itself — in opposition to a party and a president who are further left than any in American history.”
The conference includes panels on foreign policy, winning working class voters, health care, cap and trade, and social issues.
According to American Cause president and former U.S. Treasurer Bay Buchanan,
“Republicans need to get off the psychiatrist’s couch and back to the business of rebuilding the majority without making the mistakes of Bush and Delay. We have plenty to talk about including Obama’s path to socialism, the Republican’s lack of leadership, and what conservatives need to do to re-capture our future. ”
While arguing for standard conservative principles such as social conservatism and limited government, some speakers will argue against neoconservative policies on issues like free trade and foreign policy. The American Cause is one of the few conservative organizations who opposed the war in Iraq, as well as Bush policies on spending, immigration, and education when the President still had high approval ratings.
Speakers include Pat Buchanan, Phyllis Schlafly — who will be the keynote speaker — former Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell, anti-affirmative action leader Ward Connerly, Former Congressmen John Hostettler and Tom Tancredo, former Washington Times editor Tony Blankley, and Hazleton, PA Mayor Lou Barletta, best selling anti-immigration author Peter Brimelow, former Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline, and health care entrepreneur Richard Scott.
