National Black Chamber to Host 17th Annual Convention
WASHINGTON, June 19 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The National Black Chamber of Commerce, Inc., the largest Black business association in the world, will be hosting its 17th Annual Convention in Washington, DC, during July 22 – 24, 2009, at the Fairfax at Embassy Row Hotel, 2100 Massachusetts Ave. in downtown DC. The theme of the convention is “Change Has Come” and all of the updates and new initiatives of the Obama Administration will be discussed, including the current Stimulus Bill. The general public is invited to register and participate.
The NBCC will have an official Board Meeting on July 22 followed by a reception for all participants. The next two days will have keynote speeches from renown leaders and reports from the following committees: Transportation, Housing, Energy, Defense, Telecommunications, Penal Transitioning, Disabled Veterans, International Trade and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act and how it applies to contracting and business opportunities.
The Chamber has over 151 chapters within the United States and 60+ chapters abroad. It has been responsible for billions of dollars in contracts for Black-owned businesses particularly with the Katrina Rebuilding and is now focusing on the Stimulus Bill and how it must include contracting for its constituency.
