Heroic NY Boy, 9, Uses Gun to Fend Off Home Invaders: Will Bloomberg Seek Prosecution of Boy?

Last night, on June 3. Two men posing as delivery men entered a Brooklyn home armed with handguns. According to NBC New York and the NY Post the invaders told two teens in the home to lay on the floor and then began searching the home.

When one attempted to enter the bedroom of a nine, possibly, ten year old boy, he thought quickly and slammed the door hard enough on the man’s arm that the attacker dropped the gun. The brave young boy then picked up the attacker’s gun and fired a shot. The other attacker fired back as both fled. No one was hit by the shots.

Now the question remains whether Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the NYPD and the New York prosecutor’s office will seek to bring charges against this boy. Clearly he broke the laws of New York State and New York City. Mayor Bloomberg, Governor Cuomo and Sen Schumer have on many occasions indicated that citizens should not have the right to self defense.

In the eyes of Bloomberg, Cuomo and Schumer and the eyes of the laws they support, this boy broke several laws:
underaged use of a firearm
illegal possession of a firearm
use of a firearm without a license
discharge of a firearm within city limits.

It’s likely the gun was illegal and unregistered as well and was clearly used without permission of the legal owner (who probably wasn’t the home invader). If the gun had a magazine capable of holding more rounds than allowed by the recently passed New York law, then this is another violation.

Perhaps Bloomberg, Cuomo and Schumer would like to see this young man sent to prison or spend his youth in juvenile detention.

Will they prosecute? No. Of course not. For one and one reason only, Bloomberg, Cuomo and Schumer will not have the courage to show the general public where their policies lead by seeking prosecution for this brave young boy and that reason is politics.

It is not that far fetched of course to think that such a hero would be prosecuted – it happens often. We’ve seen cases of a custodian who found a gun and reported it to police charged with possession, people driving through New York State prosecuted for owning their own guns and students kicked out of schools for having toys or even having pictures of guns.

The wrongheaded and unconstitutional policies of this trio seem acceptable to their fans when Cuomo shouts “No one needs 10 bullets to kill a deer.” or Bloomberg, who is constantly surrounded by armed guards (even in Bermuda where guns are banned but not for him due to special permissions) or when Schumer uses the tragedy of Sandy Hook to push his agenda while himself holding a special, perhaps unique unrestricted license to carry firearms in New York of a type not even issued to retired police chiefs or Army Generals.

No, Cuomo, Bloomberg and Schumer would rather hide behind tragedy than have the courage to come forward and say what the laws and policies they support REALLY mean: that they would not want this boy or any other person (other than themselves, their own bodyguards and the police under their command) to pick up, use or possess a gun for any reason. If followed to the letter, their policies would leave this boy and the two teens in this home at the mercy of criminals. Their policies would leave every citizen at the mercy of those with illegal guns and more might, numbers or brute strength than their victim. The trio has been unable to get illegal guns of the streets in New York and they’ve been unable to stop crime but they wish to disarm you just the same.

Every day people are saved by firearms. Guns protect the lives and property of thousands of civilians. Gun also prevent crimes from even being attempted in many cases which is why, for example, cities like El Paso have much lower per capita crime than cities like Boston despite the larger police force in Boston. Stories like this boy and the thousands of people who legally use firearms to defend themselves as well as the millions of peaceful gun owners are bothersome to gun grabbers like Schumer, Cuomo and Bloomberg. Defense is a human right. Defense against criminals and of tyrants. Our founding fathers recognized this when they said that right “shall not be infringed”.
